New cabins now available at Mt. Ascutney State Park

The Cascadnack cabin is universally accessible and pet friendly.
Mt. Ascutney is one of Vermont’s oldest state parks and popular hiking destination. The park is expanding its offerings to include five cabins. 

 The cabins are newly finished in 2019 and are now available.  Reservations can be made up to eleven months in advance by either reserving online or by calling the Reservation Call Center at 1-888-409-7579 (Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm).
Each cabin comes with a bunk bed, futon, and table with 4 chairs.
The new cabins are located mid-way up the Mt. Ascutney Parkway with 3 of the 5 being universally accessible (click here for a map). Each cabin has one futon, a set of bunk beds, and a table with four chairs. Cabins sleep up to four people although 2 can set up a tent outside or sleep on the floor. There is no electricity in these cabins making it the perfect opportunity to unplug and keep some of the creature comforts of home. You can even bring your pet with you in the Cascadnack cabin! Restrooms with hot water and showers are located a short distance away. The bath house utilizes solar panels as part of its energy generation.  A picnic table and campfire ring with grill are provided for each cabin. 

Outside each cabin is a firepit and picnic table perfect for fireside chats.
The park surrounds the 3,144 ft summit of Mt. Ascutney. The park features buildings and fireplaces from the Civilian Conservation Corps built in Ascutney granite. Whether you’re looking for breath taking adventure at either of the two hang glider launch points or a casual drive up the Mountain Road to the summit, there’s a little bit of something for everyone.

July Flood 2024 State Parks Status Updates

Post last updated at 08/26/24 at 9:00 AM The only park affected by the flashing flooding on 7/30/24 was Brighton State Park. The park is fully reopened on Wednesday, August 7th. Roads were damaged in the park, locally in the town, as well as the nearby state highway. Park staff have contacted affected reservations.  All parks affected by the July 11 flood have reopened, although 3 parks still have reduced operations. This page will be regularly updated as more information is made available and road repairs are made. Swimwater results are current . Swim areas are posted when there is an increased risk of impaired water quality. For water monitoring results outside of Vermont State Park swimming areas, check out the Vermont Department of Health Cyanobacteria Tracker Map .
