Parking Updates Online For Select State Parks

A busy day at Waterbury Center State Park. Have you ever planned for a day of adventure and arrive at a park only to find no available parking? Vermont State Parks has launched Twitter accounts for four of our busiest parks with limited parking to help you plan ahead and maximize your free time. Park staff are posting to these accounts when parking areas are full. How to Enjoy the Parks Before they "Open"

Vermont State Parks are always open and we hope you enjoy them in each and every season. With the warm weather here already, folks have been calling to see if they can get into their favorite park. Here is what you need to know about enjoying the parks before their official "opening" dates: Review our list of Off Season Parking and Gate Access . If the gates are locked, just park outside and walk in, without blocking the gates. If the gates are open be careful that you don't get locked in (see gate access above). Staff will not yet be onsite, restrooms are still closed and water is turned off. Please carry in/carry out. Let us know if there is anything amiss in the parks by emailing parks@state.vt.us Off season camping is available, via permit , up until May 1st. After May 1st, folks are welcome to visit for the day, but we won't allow camping so the staff can get ready for park opening. No fees are collected during the off season. Camp Plymouth Remains Open September Weekends

Haven't had your fill of swimming and picnicking yet for this year? Well, Camp Plymouth State Park will be open on weekends throughout the month of September. A popular place for day use and weddings, the park will open at noon on Fridays and at 10:00 AM on Saturdays and Sundays. The concession stand will be open from noon - 5:00 PM for ice cream, refreshments and boat rental. Pavilion rentals will also be available on weekends. Sorry, but pets are not permitted at this park. Camp Plymouth is also known for its housekeeping cottages, group and horse camping areas, popular playground, wide expanses of well-manicured lawns and its proximity to Coolidge State Park, with its spectacular fall hiking, the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Historic Site, Okemo, Killington and Pico resorts.

Do cool activities and earn free park admission! Its easy! Download the score sheet to get started today! You and your family can spend the season outside, and earn points for visiting beautiful places! When you get to those places, earn more points for doing all kinds of fun activities! Points are awarded for doing fun things like playing games, paddling on a lake, playing Frisbee with your friends or attending nature programs. If you earn 250 points you will be awarded a Silver VIP Pass to Vermont State Parks. With it you can come back to Vermont State Parks for the rest of this year and all of next year for free day entry! All you need to do is download a score sheet, keep track of all your points, document your activities by taking photos and send them back to us! Each score sheet and pass is for one individual, but families can do activities together and record points on their individual score sheets and each earn a pass.
