International Music Festival Brings Free Performances to Vermont State Parks, Wednesday, June 21

Vermont State Parks is happy to invite you to join a free celebration of music at three state parks on the first day of summer, Wednesday, June 21.

MakeMusicVT, presented in partnership with Big Heavy World, is an international day of music-making that will be taking place in more than 120 countries and 700 cities worldwide. Vermont is the first US state to coordinate a state-wide event, with performances at public places, including libraries, sidewalks, and state parks.

Park entry is free to attend these performances and no pre-registration is required. Performances will be held at Kingsland Bay, Boulder Beach and Silver Lake State Parks rain or shine.

Kingsland Bay State Park, Ferrisburgh VT
Rik Palleri and the Vermont SongFarmers, 3-7:30pm
Rik and the Vermont SongFarmers based in Hinesburg VT host an acoustic jam session from 3-7:30 Anyone who plays an instrument or just wants to sing along is welcome to participate. A “SongFarmer” is any artist who uses their music to make their families, their hometowns, their careers better. More information here.

Silver Lake State Park, Barnard VT
Dave & Jed, 12-3pm
Dave & Jed play ballads, blues, rock and originals. More information here.

Boulder Beach, Groton VT
Peace in the Valley, David Heath, and more! 1-5pm
Heady jams with keyboards, guitar, drums and bass.

Although it falls outside our regular park season, several Vermont State Parks will provide good viewing locations for solar eclipse on April 8. These parks include:   Bomoseen, Boulder Beach, Branbury, Crystal Lake, DAR, Elmore, Mt. Philo, Grand Isle, Knight Point, Lake Shaftsbury, Lake St. Catherine, Niquette Bay, Silver Lake, and Waterbury Center. Please be aware that park facilities will still be closed for this event. Portable toilets and/or pit/composting toilets will be available. July Flood 2024 State Parks Status Updates

Post last updated at 08/26/24 at 9:00 AM The only park affected by the flashing flooding on 7/30/24 was Brighton State Park. The park is fully reopened on Wednesday, August 7th. Roads were damaged in the park, locally in the town, as well as the nearby state highway. Park staff have contacted affected reservations.  All parks affected by the July 11 flood have reopened, although 3 parks still have reduced operations. This page will be regularly updated as more information is made available and road repairs are made. Swimwater results are current . Swim areas are posted when there is an increased risk of impaired water quality. For water monitoring results outside of Vermont State Park swimming areas, check out the Vermont Department of Health Cyanobacteria Tracker Map .
