Proposed Fee & Rule Changes
Vermont State Parks is proposing some modest fee increases
to generate funds to offset increasing operation and maintenance costs. Revenue
generated from state park services helps sustain the system and all its values,
including preservation of open space and interpretation of our environment and
the natural world.
We would like your input on these changes. Let us know what
you think. Please contact Craig Whipple, Director of State Parks, via email at
craig.whipple@state.vt.us or mail at Craig Whipple, Vermont State Parks, 1

Cheaper is better. Allow families to enjoy the beautiful outside, without higher fees.
ReplyDeleteI'd be happy to pay a dollar or two more to keep parks clean and well-staffed. You get what you pay for, and the state parks are by no means running an extravagant show. The costs are still very low and don't seem to pose a barrier.
ReplyDeleteI think your reservation system leaves a lot to be desired and should be scrapped and revamped. See earlier VPR article about the sad state of affairs for unused prime campsite statewide. The fee of $7 is too high considering credit card fees rarely reach that level. Increasing boat rental fees is also a hit to families. $10 / hour? Way too high. All of that said, the parks are a treasure, especially as compared to NY and NH. Thank you for keeping them clean, quiet and beautiful. We camp about 25 days every year.
ReplyDeleteHi -- just a note to let you know that the VPR article about empty campsites failed to make clear that those sites were reserved and paid for - the people who had reservations just didn't show up. Also the $7 reservation fee not only covers credit card fees but our reservation system and call center. Finally, $10/hour is market price for boat rentals. I just wanted you to know. Thanks for being a great supporter of the parks.
